The exhibition “Paparazzi al Cinema” by the Modena photographer Fabrizio de Gennaro opens in Modena on Saturday 24 August at 6:30 pm at the Cinema Victoria.
The exhibition is a photographic journey among the stars of cinema, a way of revealing the soul hidden behind the well-known faces of cinema. With his lens Fabrizio de Gennaro looks beyond the glossy image of the red carpet: he catches and fixes glances, emotions, moments, and gives every star back their true essence.
The exhibition is a unique chance to admire the iconic shots of international stars from close up. Among others: George Lucas, photographed at the Festival de Cannes when he won the honorary Palme d’Or; Tony Servillo at the Biennale del Cinema di Venezia; Harrison Ford for his last Indiana Jones; Willem Dafoe at the Festival del Cinema di Berlino for the film Inside; Anya Taylor-Joy for the film Furiosa Mad Max.
Fabrizio de Gennaro was born in Izmir and grew up between Paris and Modena. With his lens he captures the emotions of what surrounds him in vibrant atmospheres, from concerts in Italy to the protest demonstrations of Paris and the film festivals all over Europe.
He works for Cineuropa.org, the online media of the European Commission that supports European cinema, photographing actors, actresses and directors on the red carpets and at the photocalls of the most important European film festivals: Venice, Cannes, Berlin, Rome.
He regularly organises Street Photography workshops in Paris, looking for the most recent graffiti of Parisian Street Art to photograph and for situations and subjects off the beaten track.
The day after the opening, de Gennaro will be at the Biennale del Cinema di Venezia to photograph stars of the calibre of Angelina Jolie, Lady Gaga, Joaquin Phoenix, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp and Daniel Craig...
