GIORNATE DEGLI AUTORI 2021 - Festival del cinema di Venezia - 9 September 2021
Les enfants de Cain is set in a small village in northern Albania. Here time is suspended, and the life and death of the inhabitants are strictly governed by an old code, the Kanun. A group of seven children, oppressed by that code, meet and talk about the story of Abel and Cain. Building their own dreamlike space, partly knowingly and partly not, they draw an analogy between their own stories and the biblical tales. Suspended on the thin line between reality and oblivion, this is one of the few chances they have to face their traumas and their emotions.
