On October 18, 2025, Modena hosted the third edition of the antimilitarist and anti-prohibitionist Street Parade. Five thousand people flooded the city center streets, transforming the city into one massive open-air celebration of peace and freedom.
The colorful, energy-filled parade departed at 2 PM from Novi Sad Park (with gathering starting at 11 AM) and traveled along the ring road around the historic center. Sixteen trucks blasted electronic music at full volume, accompanied by thousands of young people from Modena and surrounding provinces, united by a single message: "Not one penny, not one soldier - Against all wars".
The parade wound through Viale Monte Kosica, Viale Crispi, Piazzale Natale Bruni, Viale Caduti in Guerra, Largo Garibaldi, Viale Martiri della Libertà, Viale delle Rimembranze, Piazzale Risorgimento, Viale Vittorio Veneto, Largo Aldo Moro, and Via Emilia Ovest, concluding at 6:24 PM at Ferrari Park, where the celebration continued until midnight.
A particularly significant moment occurred in front of the former Ottavo Campale barracks, where demonstrators displayed the banner "Not one penny, not one soldier – Against all wars," forcefully reaffirming the movement's antimilitarist stance.
The Street Parade, organized by the Unione Sindacale Italiana (USI) and the Associazione Culturale Libera, was more than just music and celebration. It was an opportunity to denounce rearmament policies, oppose the return of mandatory military service, and protest the allocation of 5% of GDP to armaments taken from healthcare, education, and pensions. A collective cry against all wars, oppression, and military institutions.
"From the streets of Modena, we raise our voices louder than ever. Music, sounds, rage, and freedom. A collective wave that breaks the silence, that screams against those who want us mute, submissive, and resigned" – this was the organizers' message.
As every year, the event required a significant law enforcement deployment to ensure safety, with parking bans active from 7 AM and temporary traffic suspension along the entire route. The parade proceeded peacefully without incidents, demonstrating that it's possible to protest peacefully yet decisively.
The Modena Street Parade confirms itself as an unmissable event for all who believe in freedom, peace, antimilitarism, and anti-prohibitionism. A moment when music becomes a universal language of resistance and hope.
